Casio to Release High-Brightness Mercury-Free Projectors That Deliver 3,500 ANSI Lumens
May 16th
Casio announced that it plans to release two new Casio data projectors—the XJ-H1650 and XJ-H1600. Equipped with Casio’s original Laser & LED Hybrid Light Source, which combines lasers, phosphors, and LEDs, these projectors deliver high-brightness projection of 3,500 ANSI lumens.
Casio released the first projector to use its original Laser & LED Hybrid Light Source in the second quarter of 2010. The Casio projector achieved high brightness of 2,500 ANSI lumens without using a lamp containing mercury, a substance which has a negative effect on the environment. In the fourth quarter of 2010, Casio took the next step by using the new light source in a new 3,000 ANSI lumens model. That model has since gone on to earn a strong reputation as a next-generation projector.
The new XJ-H1650 and XJ-H1600 models coming in June boast the same excellent features of the Laser & LED Hybrid Light Source — including the light source life of about 20,000 hours and quick powering on and off — while improving the brightness to an astonishing 3,500 ANSI lumens. These high-grade models also feature various innovative functions such as Intelligent Brightness Control, which automatically adjusts the brightness to suit the environmental lighting conditions, and the ability to project 3D images, as well as a fully connectable interface.

New Casio Green Slim Projectors
Jan 12th
Casio’s GREEN SLIM line projectors have transformed digital projection by delivering eco-friendliness, low cost of ownership and high-brightness output. Introduced to rave reviews at 2010’s CES, Casio’s LASER & LED HYBRID light engine broke ground by demonstrating its ability to produce high brightness, up to 2500 lumens, without a traditional mercury lamp. With an estimated life of 20,000 hours up to 10 years at five hours per day and 10x mercury lamps, the first GREEN SLIM models delivered spectacular high- brightness images in typical projection environments like classroom training and game environments.

The units also were demonstrated to great fanfare at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in LA in June. Since then Casio has built on these achievements, recently announcing that it has increased brightness up to 3000 lumens. At that level, the GREEN SLIM projects large, vibrant images in the board room or classroom. It also achieves a 50-percent increase in color spectrum compared with mercury-lamp projectors, and the Instant Off capability does away with cool-down time when switched off. “We can now satisfy the lumen requirements of the most demanding data projector application, while eliminating the need for hazardous mercury lamps,” said Frank Romeo, vice president of Casio’s Business Projector Division. “Take that together with its portability, high-performance output and low cost of ownership, and we expect the momentum behind these and future models to carry Casio far into the business, education, digital signage and pro AV markets in 2011.”
